Trump criticizes ex-lawyer Alina Habba Mildon over $50 million contract

President Donald Trump has publicly denounced a reported $50 million contract secured by his former attorney, Alina Habba Mildon. Speaking at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, Trump described the deal as “totally obnoxious and outrageous” and “unacceptable.”

According to reporting by The New York Times, the contract was with Concord Partners, a company linked to the family of Venezuelan banker Julio Herrera Velutini. The agreement reportedly provides Habba Mildon with $10 million annually over four years, plus bonuses. The contract was signed while Habba Mildon was serving as an adviser at the U.S. Department of Justice, shortly before Trump issued a full pardon to Herrera Velutini in January 2026.

Trump reportedly suggested to allies that a portion of the funds should be donated to his future presidential library or other Trump-related entities. He also expressed the view that the Herrera family should not fulfill the remainder of the contract.

Habba Mildon has denied any improper connection between her employment and the presidential pardon, stating she never received payment for facilitating clemency and did not meet with officials regarding the matter.
