Donald Trump claims $850 million war chest for 2026 midterms

President Donald Trump has announced that his political operation, primarily through the MAGA Inc. super PAC, holds a war chest of approximately $850 million. He stated his intention to deploy significant portions of these funds to support Republican candidates he deems 'good' during the 2026 midterm elections.

Despite the massive fundraising totals, reports indicate that MAGA Inc. has spent a very small fraction of its resources directly on candidate support thus far, with much of the capital directed toward consulting, administrative, and fundraising fees. This has led to some unease within the GOP regarding the timing of expenditures for competitive races.

In a parallel development, Elon Musk is reportedly preparing to contribute up to $200 million toward Republican midterm efforts. Musk’s strategy is expected to focus heavily on voter turnout and get-out-the-vote operations, with potential impact in key contests such as the Senate race in Texas involving Ken Paxton.

During a recent rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Trump urged supporters to 'pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot' to ensure high turnout for endorsed candidates, including Senator Darline Graham, who is facing a runoff election.
