Donald Trump launches extensive renovation projects across Washington, D.C

President Donald Trump toured Washington, D.C., proclaiming a series of high‑profile construction initiatives. He announced the demolition of the historic East Wing to make way for a $600 million privately‑funded ballroom, a planned triumphal arch near the Lincoln Memorial, and a $14 million resurfacing of the Reflecting Pool. Additional work includes new trees in Lafayette Park and the refurbishment of the East Potomac Golf Links, a public course slated to begin on September 1 under architect Tom Fazio, with the goal of hosting major tournaments such as the U.S. Open and the Ryder Cup.

Separately, the administration began secret construction of a helipad on the White House South Lawn for the new Marine One fleet. Lockheed Martin contributed $5 million, citing safety concerns over exhaust heat. The helipad project follows earlier changes, including the demolition of the East Wing and the addition of a “Presidential Walk of Fame.”
