Donald Trump appears to fall asleep during White House press conference

During a White House press conference on September 28, 2026, Donald Trump appeared to briefly fall asleep on camera. The incident occurred while U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright was speaking during a live broadcast on Fox News.

Trump had gathered journalists to announce a project for the construction of a large steel mill in Iowa. During his remarks, he discussed investments and criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, using the nickname ‘Sleepy Joe.’

Video footage showing Trump sitting with his eyes closed and head bowed circulated widely on social media, prompting various reactions and jokes from users. While the footage suggests he may have dozed off, it cannot be definitively confirmed from the video alone.
