Donald Trump approval drops to historic lows as midterms approach
A recent CNN poll shows that 73% of Americans believe former President Donald Trump has failed to address the nation’s most urgent problems. His overall approval rating fell to 34%, matching the lowest level recorded at the end of his first term. Among Republicans, support for Trump slipped to 78%, the weakest backing he has received from his own party.
Economic issues dominate the criticism: only 25% approve of his handling of inflation and 21% endorse his actions on rising gasoline prices. A majority of respondents say higher fuel costs are creating hardship, and 71% say Trump is not doing enough to curb basic‑goods prices. The poll also indicates low approval for his foreign‑policy stance, with just 28% supporting his approach to Iran and 39% backing his immigration policy.
