Trump asked Xi Jinping if China wants to buy US weapons FAST-MOVING

US Ambassador to China David Perdue revealed that during a recent state visit to Washington, President Donald Trump asked Chinese leader Xi Jinping if he would be interested in purchasing American weapons. Perdue made the disclosure during an interview on Fox News Sunday, noting that Trump used the prospect to justify ongoing arms sales to Taiwan by framing them as standard global defense transactions.

The revelation occurs amid tensions regarding a delayed $14 billion weapons package for Taiwan. While the Trump administration had previously paused this sale during trade negotiations, Perdue stated that Trump has already approved $11 billion in arms sales to the island and maintains a strong position on its defense. Taiwan has urged the rapid delivery of the full package to deter Chinese aggression.

Regarding regional security, Perdue noted that Xi Jinping expressed support for keeping Iran free of nuclear weapons and ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open. However, any actual arms sale to China would face significant legal hurdles, as US law currently prohibits such transactions under a long-standing embargo.
