Donald Trump asks Supreme Court to revive lawsuit against Hillary Clinton
Former President Donald Trump filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to overturn an 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that dismissed his lawsuit alleging that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee fabricated a false narrative about his campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia in the 2016 election. The appellate court also ordered Trump and his lawyer Alina Habba to pay roughly $1 million in sanctions, describing the suit as frivolous.
Trump requested an extension to submit his petition by September 9, and Justice Clarence Thomas granted the request. The move would revive a case previously rejected by lower courts; Clinton’s legal team has not commented.
