Trump says US‑Iran deal at G7 will open Hormuz and end conflict

U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Evian, France, for the G7 summit and announced that a pending agreement with Iran will be signed imminently. He said the deal will halt all military actions, lift the naval blockade on Iran, and allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen fully on the day of signing. The agreement also commits the United States to withdraw its forces from zones bordering Iran within 30 days and to eliminate sanctions on Tehran, while Iran will forfeit any pursuit of nuclear weapons and submit its nuclear material to IAEA oversight.

Trump warned that if the deal is not completed within 60 days, the United States could resume bombings for “weeks or even years.” He described the pact as achieving “all we wanted and more,” and noted the creation of a $300 billion investment fund to rebuild Iran’s economy. The President also highlighted cooperation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and discussed the broader G7 agenda, including support for Ukraine and trade issues.
