Donald Trump calls for new U.S. weapons deployment after soldier deaths

Former President Donald Trump used his Truth Social platform to announce that he had directed the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) to "open the gates of hell" in response to the recent deaths of three U.S. soldiers. One soldier was killed while destroying ammunition from an Iranian drone; the other two died in Iranian airstrikes in Jordan. Since the Iran‑U.S. conflict began in February 2026, 17 U.S. service members have been killed.

Trump also stated that he had signed a nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia, aiming to support a civilian nuclear program that would allow Saudi enrichment of uranium. The deal still requires U.S. congressional approval and has drawn criticism over non‑proliferation concerns. Trump pledged that the U.S. military would retaliate proportionally for each fallen soldier.
