Donald Trump claims 65% approval rating despite lack of supporting polls
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social asserting that his approval rating had risen to 65 percent. The claim referenced a Newsmax article that cited a McLaughlin & Associates poll showing a 50 percent approval figure.
Independent surveys released the same week reported much lower support: a YouGov poll placed Trump's approval at 39.2 percent, while a Quinnipiac poll showed 38 percent approval and 55‑58 percent disapproval. The polls also indicated strong public opposition to his handling of immigration, the economy, and the war with Iran.
Trump has repeatedly dismissed unfavorable polls as “fake” and previously sued a pollster over results he disputed. The discrepancy highlights the gap between his public statements and prevailing polling data.
