Donald Trump claims destroying Iran will create global peace
In an interview with Time Magazine, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the ongoing conflict in Iran, stating that he believes peace in the world can be achieved by destroying Iran. He claimed that negotiations with Tehran are impossible.
Trump explained that the conflict, which he initially predicted would last six to eight weeks, has extended into its eighth month because he chose to push beyond his original timeline. He stated, “I destroyed them. I could have stopped there, but I wanted to go further,” to ensure the opposition could not return in a different form.
The President described the state of Iran as having a ruined economy, high inflation, and depleted military capabilities. Regarding the human cost, Trump claimed the Iranian government has killed between 72,000 and 75,000 people, including protesters and innocent civilians.
Reports from Amnesty International and United Nations experts have highlighted widespread arrests, torture, and increased use of the death penalty in Iran. Amnesty International noted that over 6,000 people have been detained since the conflicts began.
