Trump also shared a dramatic account claiming that two firefighters physically lifted him and carried him to safety from the U.S. Steel Building because it was creaking and appeared ready to collapse. However, these claims have faced significant scrutiny. Fact-checkers and historical records indicate Trump was in Midtown Manhattan at his Trump Tower when the attacks occurred, and there is no documented evidence supporting his presence at the immediate rescue site or his alleged rescue by firefighters.

Adding to the controversy, Trump’s nephew, Fred Trump, publicly disputed these narratives. Fred challenged the claim that Donald Trump sent construction crews to assist at Ground Zero, noting that the only employees available would have been secretarial and accounting staff. He also contested the story regarding the building's instability and the subsequent evacuation.
