Donald Trump claims US secured Greenland and Venezuela

During a campaign rally in Perry, Georgia, Donald Trump claimed that the United States has secured control over both Greenland and Venezuela, describing the purported acquisitions as the “greatest real estate deal in history.”

Regarding Greenland, Trump asserted that Denmark had transferred sovereignty to Washington. However, recent legal documents contradict this. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and Denmark on October 22 to strengthen maritime industrial cooperation and shipbuilding explicitly states: “This MoU does not apply to Greenland or the Faroe Islands.” While a defense agreement has expanded US military rights and security interests in the Arctic region, it continues to recognize Danish sovereignty and Greenlandic self-determination.

Trump also claimed US dominance over Venezuela and its oil reserves, though no such transfer of sovereignty or control has occurred.
