Donald Trump claims US total control of Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that the United States maintains ‘total control’ over the Strait of Hormuz, stating intentions to keep the strategic waterway under American influence. In a social media post, Trump described the U.S. naval blockade as a ‘wall of steel’ and claimed that Iran is unable to challenge the operation.

Trump further alleged that Iran’s military and political leadership is severely weakened, claiming the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is decimated and that the nation faces a severe economic crisis characterized by 300% inflation. He characterized the Iranian leadership as uncertain and stated the country has ‘no money.’

Contrasting reports regarding the diplomatic situation suggest that recent Iranian demands for opening the Strait may not be new. Some analyses indicate that Iran’s conditions—which include the lifting of naval blockades, the removal of sanctions, and the release of frozen assets—were previously outlined in a June 17th Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.
