Donald Trump claims women thank him for improving Washington, D.C. safety

During a political rally in Nassau County, New York, President Donald Trump claimed that “young, beautiful girls” at the White House have approached him to express gratitude for making Washington, D.C., safer. Trump attributed the improved safety in the capital to his administration’s use of the National Guard to bolster law enforcement presence.

Trump’s remarks coincided with the release of FBI 2025 crime statistics, which indicate that the U.S. homicide rate has reached its lowest level in 75 years and overall violent crime declined by 9.3 percent last year. While Trump credited his administration’s measures for these trends, experts noted that national violent crime rates have been declining since 2022, making it difficult to isolate a single cause.

The event, held in support of a GOP gubernatorial candidate, was attended by Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel. Patel spoke at the event, praising the President’s leadership regarding crime reduction, a move noted for departing from the norm of law enforcement officials avoiding overtly political gatherings.
