Donald Trump comforts parents of boy killed by stray bullet

During a speech at the Nassau County Police Academy on Long Island, President Donald Trump paused his address to comfort the parents of Jacob Freytes, a 12-year-old boy killed by a stray bullet in the Bronx last month. Trump exited the stage to embrace Migdalia Martinez and retired NYPD Sergeant Jesus Freytes, who were present in the audience.

Trump addressed the tragedy while discussing his administration’s focus on crime reduction, noting that the boy was killed by a repeat offender during a gun battle. Following the encounter, the President vowed to pursue justice against those responsible.

The death of Jacob Freytes has led New York state Republican legislators to introduce ‘Jacob’s Law,’ a proposal aimed at imposing stricter sentences on criminals whose reckless actions result in the death of a child. Authorities have arrested 45-year-old William Ferrer in connection with the incident; he faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, and has pleaded not guilty.
