Donald Trump confronts Senate over Todd Blanche AG nomination and SAVE America voting ID bill
President Donald Trump has declared he will keep Todd Blanche as interim Attorney General despite pressure from Republican senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, who are demanding revisions to a controversial IRS agreement that includes a $1.8 billion political‑fund provision. Trump posted on Truth Social that he will not change his mind.
At the same time, the White House sent senior aide Susie Wiles to meet Senate Republican leaders, including Majority Leader John Thune and Whip John Barrasso, to try to break a stalemate over the SAVE America Act – a bill that would require voters to present identification and proof of citizenship – as well as broader budget and filibuster disputes. The meetings yielded no immediate resolution.
