Donald Trump considers male successor for Press Secretary

President Donald Trump is considering a change in his White House communications team, specifically looking to replace Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt with a male successor. Leavitt, who plans to depart the White House at the end of August to spend more time with her family, will remain as an outside senior adviser.

Reports indicate that Trump has expressed a preference for a man to take the role, potentially to avoid direct comparisons to his previous female press secretaries. Potential candidates being discussed include conservative media pundit Scott Jennings and former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer. Another possibility mentioned is Natalie Harp, a close aide to the president.

Trump has indicated there is no immediate rush to fill the position. In the interim, the administration may utilize a rotating briefing format, similar to the approach used during Leavitt’s recent maternity leave, which involved briefings from Vice President JD Vance and various Cabinet members.
