Donald Trump criticizes economic conditions and Federal Reserve
Donald Trump has expressed significant frustration regarding the current state of the United States economy, despite a recent positive jobs report showing a gain of 162,000 jobs in August. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump criticized the Federal Reserve and financial markets, arguing that economic success does not cause inflation, stating, “Success does not cause inflation. Stupidity causes inflation.”
Trump has attributed economic difficulties, including high prices for gas, diesel, and food, to various factors such as tariffs, interest rates, and international conflicts. He has criticized the impact of high interest rates on government debt and suggested that the U.S. could retaliate against trade partners.
While Trump has promised an imminent economic boom, current annual growth has remained at approximately 2%, which is slower than the gains seen during the previous administration. The national debt has also surpassed the $40 trillion threshold, contributing to rising interest rates on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note.
