Donald Trump criticizes EU over Russian energy payments and migration
Donald Trump has intensified his public criticism of the European Union, accusing the bloc of hypocrisy regarding energy payments to Russia. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the EU has paid Russia $250 billion for energy, asserting that his policy of ‘America First’ is the correct choice for the United States.
The dispute follows Trump’s announcement regarding the purchase of Russian diesel fuel, a move that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described as a ‘gift’ to the Kremlin. European leaders have criticized the decision, arguing it provides funding for the Russian military machine.
Trump also linked European migration policies to rising extremism. Commenting on unrest in France, he rejected explanations citing educational issues, instead attributing the situation to ‘uncontrolled mass migration’ and what he described as a desire for Islam to take over the country.
Furthermore, Washington has framed migration as a security threat to Europe. A counter-terrorism strategy led by coordinator Sebastian Gorka suggests that hostile groups exploit open borders and ‘globalist ideals,’ warning that current European policies increase the risk of terrorist activities.
