Donald Trump declines to consider pardon for Lindsay Clancy

Donald Trump has declined to intervene in the case of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts woman accused of killing her three young children in January 2023. The decision follows a public appeal from Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, who requested a presidential pardon.

Trump noted that the matter is a state-level issue rather than a federal one, stating, “It’s actually a state situation, you know, not a federal one.” He described the case as a “very sad situation” where “there is no winner... no matter what you do,” citing the deaths of the three children.

Clancy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder regarding the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan. Her defense team has argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the incidents. A recent trial resulted in a mistrial after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict, with reports indicating an 11-1 split in favor of acquittal based on lack of criminal responsibility.
