Donald Trump discusses Venezuela elections and oil recovery

U.S. President Donald Trump has addressed the political and economic situation in Venezuela following a military operation that captured Nicolás Maduro. Trump reported that the mission, involving 201 highly trained soldiers, was completed in 148 minutes without any American casualties.

Regarding the political future of the country, Trump stated in an interview with TIME magazine that while elections could be held, it is currently “too green” or too early to set a date. He indicated he would discuss the matter with Delcy Rodríguez, who is acting as the head of the Venezuelan government.

On the economic front, Trump highlighted a significant recovery driven by the energy sector. He noted that international corporations, including Chemron, Eni, GeoPark, and GE Vernova, are establishing operations in the country. Trump emphasized that the extraction of Venezuelan oil is helping to replenish U.S. national strategic reserves and that both nations are benefiting financially from the cooperation.
