Donald Trump discusses peace proposal and Nobel Prize

President Donald Trump has expressed frustration over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming during an Oval Office discussion that he has ended eight wars. While discussing the administration's efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Trump stated, “I ended eight wars. I get no credit for it. I ended eight wars. Did I get the Nobel Prize? No.”

This commentary coincided with a diplomatic mission involving U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The pair traveled to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and subsequently to Kyiv to hold discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding a new peace proposal.

Despite these diplomatic efforts, fighting continues in the region. Intelligence officials have expressed skepticism regarding President Putin's interest in a short-term agreement, and a Russian drone recently struck the headquarters of Ukraine's security service in Kyiv.
