Donald Trump dismisses concerns over Xi Jinping's potential U.S. visit cancellation

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he is not concerned that Chinese President Xi Jinping might cancel a long-awaited visit to the United States scheduled for late September. Speaking to reporters during a golf tournament in Ireland, Trump expressed optimism regarding bilateral relations, stating, “We have excellent relations. He wants good cooperation, and we want it too. We will work well together.”

These comments follow reports that China warned the U.S. against approving a potential $14 billion arms sale to Taiwan. Trump has indicated he is considering the deal, while Xi Jinping has previously cautioned that the Taiwan issue must be handled carefully to avoid conflict.

The leaders of the two largest global economies are expected to meet in Washington on September 24. Their discussions are anticipated to cover Taiwan, international trade, artificial intelligence, and the Middle East.
