Donald Trump expected to reject midterm results by half of Americans
A YouGov poll conducted between October 2 and October 5 among 1,053 US adults indicates that 52 percent of respondents do not expect Donald Trump to accept a Republican defeat in the upcoming midterm elections. Only 23 percent believe he would accept the results, while 25 percent remain unsure.
Despite these expectations, there is broad consensus regarding electoral integrity; nearly three-quarters of Americans, including 72 percent of Republicans, state that the president should accept the final results.
The poll also highlights internal party dynamics, with 49 percent of respondents suggesting Trump’s involvement harms the Republican Party’s chances of retaining control of Congress, whereas 20 percent believe he helps. Current national polling averages show Democrats holding an 8.2-point lead over Republicans in the race for House control.
