Donald Trump claims Iran is a 'destroyed state' with crippled military

During a speech at the White House, Donald Trump claimed that Iran has become a 'destroyed state' with its economy in ruin and its naval and air forces eliminated. He asserted that the United States maintains 'near complete control' over the Strait of Hormuz and has facilitated unprecedented levels of oil extraction through the waterway.

Trump provided casualty figures, stating that the U.S. lost 18 personnel while Iran lost between 4,500 and 5,400 soldiers. He indicated that further developments regarding Iran would occur soon.

In a separate context, former diplomat Kourosh Ahmadi noted that while negotiations between Washington and Tehran in New York have seen little progress, the likelihood of a full-scale war remains low. Ahmadi suggested that Trump's decision-making process often bypasses traditional institutional frameworks, such as the National Security Council.
