Donald Trump faces backlash over AI image of Dolly Parton

Following the death of country music icon and philanthropist Dolly Parton on August 25 at age 80, Donald Trump has faced significant backlash for sharing an AI-generated image of himself walking arm-in-arm with the singer at the White House.

While Trump initially ordered flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Parton, critics have accused him of hypocrisy. Some noted that Parton’s Imagination Library, a literacy initiative that has distributed over 330 million books, was previously deprived of funding under his administration.

The use of an artificial intelligence illustration to depict a personal connection with the late singer has been condemned by fans and critics alike, with many noting that Parton maintained a distance from partisan politics throughout her career.
