Donald Trump faces backlash over tiger attack posts

Donald Trump has faced significant criticism following a series of controversial posts on Truth Social involving a fatal tiger attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in England. On October 13, Trump shared footage of the incident, in which 23-year-old William Chapman was killed after entering a tiger enclosure. He captioned the video, “Don’t ever mess with nature!”

Shortly after, Trump posted an AI-generated video depicting himself playfully wrestling and embracing a tiger, set to the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” He also shared a montage of various animal attacks, which fact-checkers identified as containing at least three AI-generated clips.

The family of William Chapman, who reportedly suffered from significant mental illness, has expressed deep distress over the circulation of the footage and has pleaded for privacy and respect. British politicians, including Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard, have condemned the posts as “extremely distasteful” and inappropriate, accusing the former president of mocking a tragedy for social media engagement.
