Donald Trump faces scrutiny over executive orders and impeachment history
Donald Trump has faced multiple impeachment proceedings and legal challenges during and after his presidency. In 2019, the House impeached Trump regarding allegations of attempting to influence Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden. In 2021, following the January 6 Capitol attack, he was impeached again for efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. In both instances, the Senate did not reach the two-thirds majority required for conviction.
Following his return to office on January 20, 2025, Trump has reportedly issued various executive orders, some of which are characterized as illegal. These actions have been implemented with the assistance of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an entity associated with Elon Musk. Critics argue that Democratic leadership has failed to mount a sufficiently vigorous response to these ongoing actions.
