Donald Trump faces Senate war‑powers limit, warns Iran on nuclear program

The U.S. Senate approved a proposal that would curb President Donald Trump’s authority to conduct military action against Iran, voting 50‑48. The measure, which seeks to restrict the president’s war‑powers under the War Powers Act, gained support from a handful of Republican senators and was followed by a similar vote in the House of Representatives, which passed the resolution 215‑208.

Amid the legislative push, Trump delivered a public statement asserting that the United States will not reach any agreement with Iran unless Tehran provides full transparency on its nuclear program. He warned that any obstruction of international inspections would trigger “hard steps” by the U.S. and its allies, reinforcing a hard‑line stance even as diplomatic talks continue in the region.
