Donald Trump faces skepticism over election promises and campaign rhetoric

Donald Trump is actively campaigning for the upcoming elections, utilizing various rhetorical strategies and economic promises to rally support. During a Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Trump proposed a $5,000 dividend to citizens if Republicans secure control of both houses of Congress in November.

However, public and political skepticism regarding this ‘Trump Dividend’ is growing. A survey by The Economist and YouGov indicates that only 21 percent of registered voters believe the payout will occur, while 57 percent believe he will not deliver on the promise. Even within the Republican party, fewer than half of members expect the president to follow through. This doubt is attributed to conflicting messages from the campaign and previous unfulfilled financial pledges, such as the proposed ‘DOGE dividend’ and tariff-funded checks.

In addition to economic pledges, Trump’s campaign rhetoric has included controversial statements regarding foreign policy and domestic security. He has made comments regarding potential Iranian attacks on U.S. cities, specifically mentioning Los Angeles and San Diego, as part of his prognostications on international conflict.
