Donald Trump sued over Truth Social's paid early-access API FAST-MOVING
Donald Trump and the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) are facing a federal lawsuit in Manhattan, New York, filed by The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation. The legal action challenges the Truth API, a subscription service that provides near-instantaneous access to posts from Trump and other high-profile accounts on Truth Social.
Subscribers, primarily high-frequency trading firms and financial institutions, pay between $60,000 and $100,000 per month to receive posts in milliseconds, potentially before they reach the general public. The plaintiffs argue that this service is “extraordinary, corrupt and unconstitutional,” alleging it violates the First and Fifth Amendments by providing preferential access to market-moving government information, such as announcements regarding tariffs, military actions, and foreign policy.
TMTG has defended the service, stating that selling fast access to data feeds is common in the industry and that the lawsuit is an attempt by activists to censor the president. The company noted that more than 10 customers have already subscribed to the service.
