Donald Trump highlights progress in U.S.-Venezuela relations
U.S. President Donald Trump has characterized recent developments in Venezuela as ‘tremendous,’ noting sustained progress in relations between Washington and Caracas. During an exchange with U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright on September 28, Trump described the ongoing changes as unprecedented after Wright reported ‘daily progress’ regarding the situation in the country.
These comments follow a recent meeting in New York between Trump and Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez during the United Nations General Assembly. Trump confirmed that the two leaders discussed the upcoming elections in Venezuela and described Rodríguez as ‘very kind and fantastic.’
The administration also highlighted increased cooperation in the oil sector, with Trump stating that the partnership is helping Venezuela generate significant revenue for its citizens. This diplomatic shift follows the capture of Nicolás Maduro in a U.S. military operation on January 3.
