Donald Trump jokes about Canada becoming 51st state during Kansas rally

During a campaign rally in Park City, Kansas, President Trump revisited his suggestion of Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state. He jokingly offered two guarantees if the nation joined the Union: the preservation of ice hockey and the continued use of ‘O Canada’ as a state anthem.

The visit to Kansas focused on the administration’s economic and rural policy record. The White House highlighted over $735 million in emergency assistance provided to Kansas farmers for the 2024 crop year, along with $222 million in rural healthcare funding. Additionally, the administration noted private sector developments, including a $3 billion data center in De Soto and an $895 million expansion by Merck Animal Health.

Trump used the event to campaign for Republican Senator Roger Marshall and other GOP candidates ahead of upcoming midterm elections.
