Donald Trump jokes about Melania Trump’s documentary success

During a National Republican Congressional Committee fundraising dinner held on March 25, 2026, at Union Station in Washington, D.C., Donald Trump joked about the success of a documentary centered on Melania Trump.

Trump referred to the First Lady as a ‘fantastic movie star,’ noting that her film reached number one in both theatrical releases and streaming charts. He quipped, ‘There cannot be two stars in one family. There is only room for one star in a family,’ prompting laughter from the audience.

The documentary, titled ‘Melania,’ was produced by Amazon MGM Studios and co-produced by Melania Trump herself. Directed by Brett Ratner, the film chronicles the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second inauguration on January 20, 2025, covering the transition to the White House and the family's return to Washington. Following its world premiere on January 29, 2026, the film reportedly earned over $16.6 million at the box office and was distributed in more than 240 countries and territories via Prime Video.
