Donald Trump Jr. hunts in Mongolia with Russian oligarch

Donald Trump Jr. participated in a hunting expedition in remote western Mongolia in late August, accompanied by Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev. Kremlev, the president of the International Boxing Association and a figure with close ties to Vladimir Putin, spent two days with Trump Jr. at a hunting camp in Uvs province. Reports indicate the pair attempted to maintain privacy and avoid being photographed together.

During the trip, Trump Jr. reportedly killed an endangered Altai argali, a rare horned sheep. Federal records show the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar paid $18,715 for Secret Service hotel rooms to provide protection for the president’s son during his stay.

The expedition follows previous scrutiny regarding Kremlev’s financial ties to the Trump family. Investigative reports revealed that Kremlev contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars toward the wedding festivities for Trump Jr. and his wife, Bettina, which were held on private islands in the Bahamas. While a representative for Trump Jr. stated the bond with Kremlev is strictly personal and not a business relationship, the connection has drawn attention from U.S. congressional inquiries.
