Donald Trump linked to $1.776 billion DOJ slush fund for supporters

The U.S. Department of Justice has established a $1.776 billion “Anti‑Weaponization” or slush fund that critics say is intended to compensate Donald Trump, his family and political allies, including individuals involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The fund is overseen by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, a former personal lawyer to Trump, and operates without congressional oversight. A settlement tied to the fund reportedly shields Trump and his businesses from future IRS audits. Police officers who defended Congress on Jan. 6 have filed lawsuits to block the fund, arguing it rewards violence and undermines democratic institutions.

Opponents contend the arrangement incentivizes further insurrectionary activity and represents a major breach of constitutional checks on executive power.
