Donald Trump links Space Academy location to Ohio election results
Donald Trump has linked the potential location of the new Space Academy to the outcome of the upcoming midterm elections in Ohio. During a campaign rally in Vandalia, the U.S. President stated he would ‘seriously consider’ Ohio as the site for the institution, provided the Republican Party maintains control of the state.
The Space Academy, established by presidential decree in August, is designed to train personnel for the U.S. Space Force, NASA, and the commercial space industry. Trump suggested that Republican leadership in Ohio would facilitate better access to federal resources and funding, whereas he indicated he might ‘limit his cooperation’ with the state if Democrats prevail in key races.
The political stakes involve critical battles for the Senate and governorship, including the race between Republican Senator John Husted and Democrat Sherrod Brown, as well as the gubernatorial contest involving Vivek Ramaswamy and Amy Holton. Interested states have until October 26 to submit official proposals for hosting the Academy.
