Donald Trump marks 80th birthday with Iran ceasefire and White House MMA gala

On June 14, former U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday and announced a 90‑day cease‑fire agreement with Iran, along with the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping. The deal, mediated by Pakistan and several Gulf states, was immediately rejected by Israel, which warned that it would not abide by the terms.

The White House marked the occasion with a UFC Freedom 250 mixed‑martial‑arts gala staged on the lawn of the residence. Around 4,000 invited guests attended in person and the event was broadcast to an additional 80‑100 thousand viewers in a surrounding fan zone. Polish President Karol Nawrocki took part, holding brief talks with Trump on Polish security, U.S.–Poland defence cooperation and the prospect of a permanent U.S. base in Poland. Following the visit, the United States announced the deployment of an extra 5,000 troops to Poland after a pause in its regular rotation. In Poland, public opinion was divided, with respondents over 50 years old viewing the visit more negatively.
