Trump mocked by giant 'Iran War Participation Trophy' on Washington’s National Mall

An anonymous artist collective known as The Secret Handshake installed a ten‑foot golden statue dubbed the “Iran War Participation Trophy” on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The plaque reads, “We hereby award President Donald J. Trump this participation trophy for his enthusiastic involvement in the Iran War,” adding that the president demonstrated “the courage to participate regardless of the final score.” Visitors have been encouraged to leave their own trophies at the base of the sculpture.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly criticized the work, calling the artists “untalented” and urging them to “stick to their ugly ‘art’ and refrain from weighing in on foreign policy.” The installation comes amid renewed U.S.–Iran hostilities, with President Trump announcing a reinstated naval blockade of Iranian ports and a 20% fee on cargo through the Strait of Hormuz. The statue follows previous Secret Handshake installations that have satirized the administration’s policies.

The protest highlights growing domestic dissent over the United States’ renewed military engagement in Iran, as public opinion polls show a majority of Americans opposing the war.
