Donald Trump named worst American in YouGov poll on US 250th anniversary

A YouGov survey conducted ahead of the United States' 250th‑anniversary celebrations asked Americans to name the worst person the country has ever produced. Thirty‑four percent of respondents selected former President Donald Trump, making him the top‑ranked figure on the “worst American” list. The poll showed 64 % of Democrats, 34 % of independents and 4 % of Republicans chose Trump, while the next most‑cited names were convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (14 %), former President Barack Obama (8 %) and serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (8 %).

On July 4, the same day the nation marked its independence, a white‑nationalist group called Patriot Front staged a masked march in Washington, D.C., shouting “Take back America.” Hundreds of members wore camouflage clothing, face masks and Confederate symbols while moving past the Capitol and Union Station. Police monitored the demonstration, noting it fell under First‑Amendment protections.
