Donald Trump pardons Roc Nation executive Emory Jones

President Donald Trump has granted a presidential pardon to Emory Jones, a Roc Nation executive and longtime associate of Jay-Z. Jones was among 30 individuals included in a recent round of clemency actions announced by the White House.

Jones was originally sentenced to nearly 16 years in federal prison in 2000 on cocaine-related charges. During his incarceration, Jay-Z supported Jones’ reentry efforts by writing to U.S. District Judge Benson Legg in 2010 to guarantee Jones would have employment upon his release. This assistance contributed to Judge Legg reducing Jones' sentence by 37 months.

Since his release in 2016, Jones has served as the Head of Lifestyle at Roc Nation and co-founded the apparel brand Paper Planes. Following the announcement, Reform Alliance CEO Jessica Jackson praised the pardon, noting it as a significant second chance for Americans.
