Donald Trump Policies Blamed for Rising Inflation in New US Poll
A Marquette University Law School poll of 1,076 U.S. adults conducted July 22‑29 found that 61% say President Donald Trump's policies have increased inflation, up from 45% in December 2024. The share believing his policies would lower inflation fell to 21% from 41%.
Trump's overall job approval rose to 40%, while his approval on inflation stood at 24% and approval of his handling of gas prices was 21%. Consumer prices rose 3.5% over the year ending June, with energy prices up 15.7% and gasoline prices jumping 26.7%. The national average price for gasoline was $4.08 per gallon, up from $3.16 a year earlier. Comfort with family finances dropped to 33% from 43% in June, and 69% of respondents expect inflation to rise over the next year.
