Donald Trump posts AI memes and selects Pentagon for 9/11 memorial

Donald Trump has drawn significant attention for his frequent social media activity during the Labor Day holiday, posting over 60 messages on Truth Social. Many of these posts featured AI-generated imagery, including maps claiming territories such as New Mexico as ‘New America,’ asserting U.S. ownership of Canada, Greenland, and the Moon, and depicting the Strait of Hormuz as American territory.

Other controversial posts included a cartoon mocking Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and images depicting Trump striking an Iranian map with a hammer. Some imagery, such as proposed Space Force uniforms, faced criticism for resembling Nazi aesthetics. Trump also shared AI-generated images of himself with celebrities like Hulk Hogan and Robert De Niro.

Separately, as the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks approaches, memorial services are scheduled at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Shanksville. While former presidents including Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton are expected in New York, Trump has opted to attend the ceremony at the Pentagon. This decision follows the 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s policy of prohibiting political speeches at the Ground Zero site, allowing Trump to deliver a memorial address at the Pentagon instead.
