Trump has long expressed a desire to be added to the monument, first mentioning the idea in 2018 to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and again in a 2020 public address. Legislative interest has followed, with Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna introducing a bill that would direct the Department of the Interior to explore carving Trump’s face on the granite.
