Donald Trump Praises China Ahead of Xi Meeting While Defending Iran Blockade

U.S. President Donald Trump, on the eve of his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, praised China’s role in the region and said the U.S. naval blockade aimed at Iran posed “no problems.” He argued the United States could prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, declaring it would “stop Iran from building a bomb.” Trump also disputed intelligence reports, stating Iran still retains about 70 percent of its rockets and launch sites, and on his Truth Social platform labeled such claims “practically treason.”

In the same remarks, Trump dismissed concerns over dwindling U.S. ammunition stocks, while noting that recent sanctions have hit Chinese firms involved in illegal trade. The president expressed optimism about the upcoming talks, saying “many great things will happen.”
