Donald Trump praises Turkey's F‑35 bid, ends Iran ceasefire and cuts ties with Spain

U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara, said the United States will end the cease‑fire with Iran and terminate all commercial transactions with Spain, calling Spain a “terrible partner” in NATO. He described NATO members as unfairly burdening the U.S. and expressed strong support for Turkey, noting its desire to acquire F‑35 jets. Trump said, “I am very upset with NATO, we pay far too much.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan echoed Trump’s stance, stating that “President Trump has a positive approach toward Turkey on the F‑35 issue” and urging that the promised deliveries be fulfilled. Both leaders highlighted the strategic partnership between the United States and Turkey amid broader regional tensions.
