Donald Trump promises $5,000 payments to US adults if Republicans retain Congress

During a Republican National Committee convention in Dallas, dubbed ‘Trumpapalooza’, Donald Trump promised financial incentives to American voters to secure Republican majorities in the House and Senate.

Trump stated that if Republicans maintain control of both chambers of Congress in the upcoming November elections, he would issue a $5,000 dividend to every adult citizen in the United States. Additionally, he promised an extra $500 to individuals enrolled in the Obamacare healthcare program.

Critics and legal observers have noted that such offers may violate federal laws regarding voter bribery. Economic analysts have also questioned the feasibility of these promises, citing the current $40 trillion US national debt.
