Donald Trump proposes death penalty for traffickers and police killers

During a political rally in Mobile, Alabama, Donald Trump proposed expanding the use of the death penalty to include large-scale drug traffickers, human traffickers, and individuals who murder police officers.

Trump also criticized the removal of cash bail requirements in various states, arguing that such policies contribute to rising crime rates. This proposal follows a broader security agenda aimed at dismantling transnational criminal networks. The U.S. government has previously designated several Mexican organizations, such as the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), as Foreign Terrorist Organizations to disrupt their financial resources.

The announcement comes amid significant debate regarding capital punishment in the United States, following a failed execution in Tennessee. In that instance, inmate Christy Pike survived two lethal injections and remains in critical condition, leading Tennessee authorities to suspend all executions in the state until the end of the year.
