Trump proposes presidential retreat at Florida golf club

President Donald Trump has proposed transforming part of his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, into an official presidential retreat. Modeled after Camp David, the proposed 'U.S. Presidential Golf Course' would serve as a venue for current and future presidents, as well as visiting foreign heads of state, to hold meetings and host international summits.

Trump stated that the idea was suggested by the military and the Secret Service, citing the property's security advantages, such as its proximity to an airport and the lack of high-rise buildings or residential homes in the immediate vicinity. The proposal, submitted by club attorney Harvey Oyer to Palm Beach County officials, suggests that the federal government would receive free access to all club facilities.

While Palm Beach County owns the land under the club, the proposal indicates that the Trump family would cover the costs of constructing the presidential residence and related facilities. The plan aims to establish a permanent sanctuary for leadership, though it has drawn attention due to the intersection of the presidency with Trump's private business interests.
